Monitoring of antimicrobial resistance in respiratory tract pathogens during the COVID-19 pandemic: A retrospective study

  13 May 2024

A retrospective analysis of 5137 pathogen isolates from respiratory samples in Changle District People’s Hospital in Fujian Province aimed to understand the distribution and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of these pathogens. The top three gram-negative bacteria were Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii. The main pathogens were K pneumoniae, P aeruginosa, A baumannii, and S aureus. Although some multidrug-resistant strains have decreased, ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae and carbapenem-resistant bacteria have increased.
